  • Both teams have scored in six of the last seven meetings between these two clubs.
  • Both teams have scored in four of Wehen’s last five matches.
  • St. Pauli have lost nine of their 16 away games this season.

Wehen lost 3-1 at Darmstadt in their penultimate game of the season and with that went any realistic chance of avoiding automatic relegation on Sunday. St. Pauli will finish outside of the bottom three following their 1-1 draw at home with Regensburg and have little to play for but pride on the final day of the campaign.

Our prediction for both teams to score this weekend is based on the recent encounters between these two clubs and their performances heading into the final day of the season. Both teams have scored in six of the last seven competitive and non-competitive encounters between Wehen and St. Pauli and the hosts have won their last two home games against Sunday’s guests.

Both teams have scored in four of Wehen’s last five league games as well as three of St. Pauli’s last five outings. 56% of the visitors’ away trips this season have produced goals at both ends of the pitch and St. Pauli concede an average of 1.94 goals on their travels which is one of the reasons we have predicted a 2-1 home win on Sunday.

Wehen have only won three times at home this season but St. Pauli have lost nine of their 16 away games and have far less motivation for the points this Sunday. While a 2-1 win is highly unlikely to be enough for Wehen to avoid finishing in the bottom two, we believe the hosts will take the game to their opponents this weekend and while the dream of survival is still a possibility, Wehen have to believe they can achieve it.
