- Union berlin have lost only three of their last 11 home league assignments.
- Paderborn have scored only four goals in their last six matches in the Bundesliga.
- Five of Union Berlin’s six home league wins this term have been to nil.
Relegation awaits strugglers Paderborn
Failure to beat Union Berlin will result in relegation for Paderborn and it is difficult to make a case for the Bundesliga basement boys at the Stadion An der Alten Forsterei.
Paderborn have managed only four wins in 31 league fixtures this season, the last of which came against Freiburg in January, meaning they have failed to win any of their last 12 league fixtures.
They have won only twice on the road all season and defensive deficiencies have been central to their demise.
They have shipped an eyewatering 67 goals in their 31 league matches this term and have kept only four clean sheets in their 15 away encounters.
Visitors held back by lack of attacking prowess
Goalscoring has also been an issue for Paderborn with Streli Mamba their top scorer in the Bundesliga on only five goals this campaign and they have drawn blanks in six of their 15 away fixtures this season.
Their last result acted as a microcosm of their season as a whole, with a lack of quality in the final third and errors at the back causing them to lose 5-1 away to relegation-threatened Werder Bremen.
Their fate seems sealed after that result but Union Berlin all but confirmed they would survive their first season in the Bundesliga with a surprise 2-1 win away to Cologne last time out.
Union Berlin have been solid on home soil
That result came as shock not least because beforehand six of Union’s nine league wins had come at home this season and they have been more difficult to break down in their own backyard, where their matches have featured an average of only 2.67 goals per game this term.
Victory over Cologne was their first since the league’s restart but it’s unfair to say they have played poorly – they took points off Mainz and Schalke recently and their other matches since the resumption were against strong Bayern Munich, Borussia Monchengladbach and Hertha Berlin outfits.
They look a good match result prediction and, with 12-goal Sebastian Andersson leading the line, they should be fancied to run out fairly comfortable winners at home to strugglers Paderborn.
With that in mind, a good correct score prediction could be 2-0 – a scoreline Union Berlin have won by five times this season against Freiburg, Gladbach, Cologne, Augsburg and Werder Bremen.
